CHARMD News
CHARMD held their Annual Horse show in Spruce Grove on June 6th and 7th at Light Speed Stables. There was 25 entries for the show which had halter, English, western and driven class’s. In our costume class we had everything from a dairy cow to a hockey player to a day at the beach. The Grand Champion and Top Stallion of the show was Julie Hickie and her partner Delavoye Heros Phenom, showing the Canadians versatility in the English, western and driven class’s, congratulations Julie. Top Gelding of the show was Marv-Ell’s Furie NRG, owned by Marvin and Ellen Abbott and shown by Sherry Engerdahl. Top Mare of the show was Willow View Dawn Nesley, owed by the injured Suzanne Spierenburg and shown by Helene Denis. On the way to the show Shane and Patti Juuti and 4 of their children were in an auto accident when an oncoming vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and T boned them writing off both their truck and trailer. Fortunately all were not seriously hurt, scratches, cuts, bruises and broken ribs but all in all very lucky. Both horses came through in there tough Canadian way basically unscathed. At our annual Show Auction the CHARMD members had earlier agreed to donate the funds raised to Shane and Patti to help offset their loses, well once the CHARMD members came through raising over $2,900.00. As mentioned the Canadian Horse is great, but the members of CHARMD are the best!!!
In July CHARMD will again be hosting a booth at the Calgary Stampede, “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth”. The Stampede brings visitors from all over the world and thanks to Darrel and all the members of CHARMD that help out with the demos, the Canadian Horse is well shown and represented to the world.
